9 goal thriller v dumbarton

Dumbarton riverside 5-v 4 Clydebank Athletic

Last time these two teams met it finished 5-4 to Dumbarton after a good start from blue Bankies, and unfortunately it was a repeat.

Bankies started well and raced into a quick lead with Leon scoring from inside the box with a lovely curved effort into the far post. A high intensity was proving to much for Dumbarton who then conceded a corner and up leaped Liam who clean header smashed in for close made it 2-0 to blankies. Dumbarton did react and started to find some space between midfield and defence with the number 8 who just couldn’t be pinned down getting involved and netting himself a brave goal riding 2 challenges before scoring low past keeper jack.  Dumbarton then drew level after again neat play down the right and a clean strike levelled 2-2.

The Bankies for a brief spell looked to be struggling to regain control of game and couldn’t get the passes needed to get out of own half with the wind assisting Dumbarton pushing the ball further forward 2 late goals before half time gave Bankies a hill to climb coming in at ht – 4-2 down.

2nd half and the Bankies s resumed the high press and forward play and Jakub who can be relied on for a goal a game scored after good hold up play from the fridge {ross} nice lay off and good finish low into corner , blankies pushed and pushed with Dumbarton now feeling the conditions tougher to deal with and a slack pass at the bank let in decky for a lethal finish to make it 4-4 !!!!!! comeback on  ?

Jakub ross and danny  all had chances to snatch a late winner and the best coming from Jakub who broke offside trap through on goal but tired legs left the chance going only to scuff his late effort wide would the Bankies regret this ? answer yes . Dumbarton managed to breach a late offside shout only for jack to make a great save down to his right but the resulting corner was long to back post and scrambled in to give Dumbarton 5-4 victory in wat was a great game and fiercely contested.
