1ST GAME OF 2020-2021 SEASON

CAFC 4 – 2 Vale of leven

The Blue Bankies Played the vale during pre-season and lost 6-1, however lessons were learned and the lads had strict instructions not the let the vale boys in behind to create the longer they kept them in front of the defence and in the central midfield area where the blues are strongest.

Without much being created the vale did manage to breach the defence and spring a counter from the blues corner and a lovely chip over the blues keeper jack made it 1-0 to the vale. The Bankies did maintain composure however and created a few half chances before Big Ross who lead the line stole in at the back post for a neat finish. The blue Bankies kept coming and further chances created and the vale were rocking and a needless free kick for Jakub who smashed one in from 30 yards to make it 2-1.

Ross again 10 mins later picked up a similar position just before half time to nip in for his second of the game – HT 3-1.

Bankies roles where clear again keep the defensive shape and hit on counter, The vale pinned the Bankies back and a few chances created but the back 4 and keeper kept the vale at bay. Keeper jack made a terrific save midway through half pushing efforts off the post and bravely gathering the loose balls from vale attempts.

The Bankies resolute defence where rewarded as neat passes from Danny, Leon Jakub and ross resulted and a lovely through ball for Jakub who raced through nutmegging keeper to make it 4-1. The vale did get a consolation goal late on from a well struck shot from the edge of the box but the damage had been done and a spirited performance from the Bankies deserved the 3 points.

Not a man of the match as all contributed and a team performance that earned the result.
